This morning, RCFD responded to a Vehicle Accident-Class 1 in the 4600 block of Route 51. Crews found an occupant in the vehicle that struck an object in the median which penetrated the passenger compartment. Bystanders had assisted with removing the obstruction and on-duty RCFD personnel initiated immediate medical care on the patient in cardiac arrest. Rostraver West Newton Emergency Services transported the patient to the LifeFlight base at Rostraver Airport, continuing critical care along with Allegheny Health Network - Prehospital Care Services staff. The patient was transferred to a Pittsburgh trauma center. Rostraver Twp Police Department are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
